The statistical majority of the nation's volunteers are Baby Boomers and Gen Xers, while the outdoor industry workforce is dominated by Millennials and Gen Z. When folks work ogether well across this age gap the results can be groovy…rad…sweet…lit, but at times it can feel like no one is speaking the same language. Friction caused by generational differences can pose real risks to the social and emotional safety of our community members, and can have a ripple effect that impacts physical safety on our outdoor adventures.
